Dutch designer Chris kabel is not so concerned with appearances. At least, not when it comes to himself. But he reveals a different side with his successful designs, which are remarkable for their simplicity: “I miss people who approach design critically.”The anecdote on his website raises a smile straight away. As a nine-year-old, Chris Kabel (31) took his motherís antique clock to pieces. She was not amused. So he made amends by reassembling the pieces. The clock looked different to the way it had before but, to his great satisfaction, it worked. Years later, he still says that he had never seen such a beautiful clock. "It has remained unchanged since then and it still works."
