Dozing away for years on Spain’s mediterranean east coast is Valencia. The region’s capital has again returned to grace, thanks to its ambitious architecture and major events. and, to cap it all, a fantastic festival and a fabulous gay scene.Valencia, Spain's third-largest city, has been off the map for too long. Mass tourism never really took off because the city was built with its 'back to the sea'. The drone mentality of the average package tourist meant that, for years, the majority of the 'cooler and beach-chair set' bypassed Valencia in favour of the beaches of nearby resorts like Alicante and Benidorm.
